Srinagar, Oct 05 (KNO): Security forces on Saturday said they eliminated two “heavily armed terrorists” along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
An official informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they received multiple intelligence inputs over the past few weeks about infiltration attempts planned through the Keran sector.
These inputs were corroborated by the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), following which a joint operation was launched by the Army, BSF and J&K Police.
"On October 04, security forces observed suspicious movement across the LoC. When the infiltrating terrorists approached, vigilant troops challenged them, leading to an exchange of fire in which both terrorists, affiliated with the Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen, were neutralised," the official said.
He said the operation resulted in the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the slain terrorists, which indicated that they were heavily armed, well-trained and equipped.
"We are committed to thwarting nefarious attempts by elements inimical to peace and harmony in Kashmir," the official added—(KNO)
